Hertford Town Council needs a driven and enthusiastic Responsible Finance Officer to come and share their vision, drive and leadership.  Working from the Town Council’s offices in Hertford Castle, this statutory role provides the Council with effective financial management.

The post holder will be responsible for data management and monitoring; producing Management accounts, preparing records for audit purposes and VAT, budget setting, preparing reports to present to the Council, invoicing, payroll and pension administration including year-end and HMRC returns. 

The role advises Councillors on governance, investment, insurance and risk management including the development and implementation of associated strategies.

Experience and expertise in IT including relevant financial software and the ability to see, interpret and anticipate trends are key requirements.

This wide-ranging role is also responsible for managing the Council’s personnel management software and the Council property portfolio through a range of leases and licenses.

Local government /Town Council experience would be an advantage.

Casual Hours Facilities Officer. 

Hertford Town Council is looking to recruit a Facilities Officer on a casual hours basis to cover weekend and evening functions and community events at Hertford Castle.

General assistance and core duties involving building security, assistance and customer care, at weddings and private hire events as well as assistance with large events held within the Castle grounds.
