Safer Cycling in Hertford

Hertford Town Council is delighted to share a Safer Cycling Map which outlines the safest suggested routes to ride your bicycle across Hertford and Ware.

To use the map (below), please click on the square in the upper right corner for more detailed route information, such as: low traffic routes, car free areas, the places to take extra care - we hope this will help you plan your travel for a safer, more enjoyable, journey. Please note, this is best viewed via the Google Chrome browser.

This has kindly been put together by local cycling enthusiast Chris Dixon as part of the Council's regular discussions with local cycling groups, including:

- Hertford and Ware Cycling Consortium

- Hertford Cycle Hub

- North Road Cycle Club

We are also working with East Herts District Council and Hertfordshire County Council around the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) 

The map has been extended to cover Ware and we are working with Ware Town Council in partnership on this initiative. 

Hertford Town Council is investigating a number of potential initiatives to promote active travel, including: improved wayfinding, an e-bike hire scheme and cycle storage options as part of it's strategies - see more at: Strategic Foundations and Corporate Plan.
