MYSTERY DONOR PROVIDES FINANCIAL BOOST TO LOCAL CHARITY

Posted in Press Release

The Ancient Charities of Hertford have been distributing grants to individuals in financial need in Hertford for over half a century.

They recently received a £2 000 donation from a mystery benefactor. This is great news as Christmas approaches and will help continue its important work.

Local organisations such as the Citizens Advice Service, Hertfordshire County Council Social Services and the local churches nominate recipients to receive grants. Grants are used to buy basic furniture including beds for young children. Other household good such as cookers or washing machines are also provided.

The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Bob Deering is a Trustee for his term of Office.

Councillor Deering said ‘The Ancient Charities of Hertford continue to work to provide the helping hand to parts of the community in real need. Their longevity is a testimony to the foresight in establishing the Ancient Charities over half a century ago. I would encourage people to get in touch with the nominating organisations, or Hertford Town Council directly, if they think we can help.’

Chairman of the Trustees, Jill Geall ‘The Ancient Charities of Hertford has helped hundreds of individuals who are in need of support. The help given at a particularly difficult time in a person’s life can make a real difference to people recovering from trauma or illness. The mystery donation is a terrific boost and on behalf of all the Trustees, I wish to say a public thank you to the anonymous donor.’
