FRIENDS OF HERTFORD CASTLE OPEN EVENING

Posted in General

Join us on Tuesday 10th March at 6.30pm at Hertford Castle for the Friends of Hertford Castle Open Evening to find out more about volunteering at Hertford community events.

The Friends of Hertford Castle are an invaluable group of volunteers who help out on community event days by stewarding the cast, conducting tours, helping with the set up and take down of the events and having fun along the way.

Set up ten years ago, the volunteers have welcomed thousands of visitors to the castle to explore the grounds, the ancient walls that surround their perimeter and inside the castle.

Membership is free and you can commit as much or as little time as you have available. Involvement is flexible and you get to participate in all the exciting events the Council has planned throughout the year.

No need to be a history buff or to have any prior knowledge of the castle and the events, all information will be provided.

Why not come along and meet some of our current volunteers, get a feel for the group and the castle before signing up on this exciting journey.

Chairman of the Friends of Hertford Castle, Peter Cooper, said: “We’re a friendly group of individuals passionate about history and our town. Hertford is lucky enough to have a Castle with a history dating back over 1000 years, so it’s nice to be able to help the public explore it.”

If you are interested in attending the evening or for more information, contact Sophie Archer-Mills on 01992 552885 or e-mail sophie.archer-mills@hertford.gov.uk
