BRINGING VE DAY CELEBRATIONS TO YOU AT HOME

Posted in General

With the global pandemic taking away our ability to get outside, join up together and celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Victory in Europe, Hertford Town Council are bringing it to you. With a programme of tutorials, demonstrations and talks, there are plenty of activities to get involved in on the day.

Beforehand, why not get your creative muscles moving by entering the Art and Literature competition, details of which can be found here. Or head over to Somewhere2Sings Facebook page (here) to learn the song White Cliffs of Dover so you can join in with their special performance on the day. With lots of informative posts and activities also posted on our social media pages be sure to follow us so you don’t miss out.

On the day, activities start from 10am, with the all-important two minutes silence at 11am to remember those fallen and at 3pm after the Mayor of Hertford’s address and poignant poems read by Councillor Jane Sartin and Councillor Peter Ruffles, join in with the Nations Toast, holding up your glass in honour of the sacrifices of others.

The programme for the day is available now on www.hertford.gov.uk/events
During this celebratory weekend the temptation to go out and see friends and family is high but remember to stay home and stay safe.
