Health and Wellbeing Event

Join us on the Hertford Castle lawn to enjoy a variety of free fitness and wellbeing classes from local instructors and experts. 

Stalls will be providing refreshments and experts will be on hand to provide tips and solutions to help you feel fitter, stronger and happier.

Attendance is free but classes must be pre-booked.

9am Zumba
Zumba takes the 'work' out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. A total body workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance , flexibility and boosted energy!

Jo Knowles - a Zumba instructor for over 10 years, runs local classes in Hertford which are fun, friendly and welcoming. Music is a mixture of Zumba influence, pop and dance. 10am Functional Strength Training
A session consisting of bodyweight functional strength including bodyweight moves such as lunges,  squats, single leg movements,  push ups and more. There will be regressions with each one to assure all skill levels can take part.

11am Vinyasa Yoga flow
This Yoga class, suitable for all levels, will link movement with breath and encourage playful curiosity in the body! All participants will need to bring a yoga mat or towel (a blanket, cushion or any props from home are allowed but not required)

Jessica Payne - Jess’s style embodies using the unique sensations of the body to develop awareness, presence, self-regulation and a feeling of balance and wholeness. Jess enjoys leading a rigorous, physical practise for her students, helping to create space in the mind, build strength and resilience that students can take off the mat with them. @jessica_theyogaco

12noon Bellydance taster session
Fun, feelgood dancing to leave you mentally and physically energised.  Learn to shimmy, reconnect with your body, and tone and strengthen all those core muscles! No dance experience needed, suitable for all body types and fitness levels, all ages 16+.  Wear comfortable clothing and flat shoes - no need to show your belly! Optional - tie a scarf round your hips to accentuate the movements.

Lana Celeste is a bellydance performer and teacher, based in Ware. She previously taught for 5 years in London and is passionate about dancing to feel great and promote body confidence. Lana has danced all her life and performed around UK and internationally. 1pm Aerobics
Remember the good old days when AEROBICS was all we had? Aerobics is THE best form of exercise for all ages and targeting your whole body in one session. Grapevines,  Box Steps, Jacks, choreographed to follow easily to great modern pop music. Bring a mat/towel for a short blast at the end for your bottoms.

2pm High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
This session will focus on high intensity interval training using bodyweight movements to get the heart rate up in short bursts. Expect a full body workout, with options for all fitness abilities. The session will finish with some postnatal appropriate core work before a relaxing stretch. We recommend bringing a towel or a mat for some floor work for your own comfort.

Sian Price- fitness instructor and personal trainer specialising in women’s fitness, pre and post natal fitness and functional training @sian_price_fitness Sian hosts weekly Mummy & Me Bootcamp and Buggy Fitness classes for Busylizzy, a club based in Hertford that provides local Pregnancy and Postnatal fitness classes, fun and nurturing baby classes, local talks, and gives Mums the opportunity to work out safely with their baby and meet new friends. 3pm Stretch and mobility
This stretch and mobility class is perfect for anyone wanting an all-over body stretch or anyone suffering with back or joint pain. Bring a mat with optional mini ball & resistant band. Different options of the stretches will be available  to cater for all levels and abilities.

Jade Game from GameFit offers Pilates, stretch & mobility and  fitness classes currently online. First Zoom class free. Jade teaches a circuit class in her local park once a week and will be adding sunset Pilates in the near future. There are also numerous on-demand classes available for you to access at your leisure. 1-2-1 reformer/Personal training sessions are also available in her home studio in Stevenage. Booking and entry Terms and Conditions

For your own safety and enjoyment we ask you to please follow the below:

Participant disclaimer - by booking a ticket, you are confirming that you are fit and well enough to participate in the chosen activity. Please let the instructor know of any pre-existing medical conditions.

All tickets must be pre-booked. Each class requires a separate ticket. 

Please let us know if you are no longer able to attend so we can pass your ticket on to someone else.

In the case of fully booked activities, there may be an opportunity on the day to take part if there are 'no shows' or if any spaces remain for classes. Any remaining places will be allocated of a first come, first served basis. 

Entry to this event will be allowed based on Government legislation and social contact rules in place at time of the event. Under current measures, guests must adhere to social distancing rules for the duration of the event. All guests over the age of 16 years must provide details for track and trace.

Hertford Town Council will update event rules in line with changing Government rules, as and when they occur. Please check the T&Cs prior to attending for up to date information on any measures implemented for the event. All ticket holders will be expected to adhere to any event rules in place at the time of the event. 

Guests who are accompanied by children are responsible for supervising them at all times and should ensure they follow event rules.

No dogs or pets (except guide dogs).

If you wish to smoke, please move to the back of the lawn area, and be courteous of other event guests.

Please place all rubbish into the bins provided or take it away with you.

Any drinks purchased onsite, must be consumed within the event site.

In the event of bad weather the event will go ahead - please check the forecast and come prepared.

By booking a ticket, you are agreeing that you and the guests within your party will abide by the above rules of the event. Anyone not adhering to the rules, is at risk of being asked to leave the event.

Entry information

The Castle grounds can be accessed by foot at any of the following pedestrian gates, Castle Street, St Andrew Street Car Park, Main Castle Gate off The Wash, through the Moat Garden on Castle Street, or the gate off of Gascoyne Way. A one-way system will be in place on the Main Lawn. Therefore, it can only be accessed by one point for security checks. Please follow signage.

Parking

There is no parking at Hertford Castle (including disabled) but there are a number of car parks close to the Castle which are free to use on Sundays. Please click here to download a map of the local car parks.

Amenities

Toilets are located to the side of the main lawn on the footpath by the Ashley Webb Shelter.

Disabled toilets & baby changing facilities are available inside the castle, please speak to a volunteer on the door for access. 

First aid is located on the main lawn.
