Hertford Castle "Within these Walls" Tour

Outdoor guided tour showcasing the Castle's amazing history over the years from William the Conqueror to the present day.

Led by the Friends of Hertford Castle, an invaluable group of volunteers who help conduct Castle Tours and steward at Castle Open Days, who have a wealth of historical knowledge. This 1 hour 15 minute guided tour of the Castle grounds will give insight into the amazing history that lies "within these walls'.

The tour will take place on Wednesday 8th May, 7.00pm - 8.15pm. 

Tickets are £5 per person with proceeds going to the Mayor of Hertford Charity Appeal Fund.

Hertford Castle, Castle Street, SG14 1HR 

Entry information 

The event is ticketed. £5 per person with all proceeds going to the Mayor of Hertford’s Charity Appeal Fund

The Castle grounds can be accessed by foot at any of the following pedestrian gates: Castle Street, St Andrew Street Car Park, Main Castle Gate off The Wash or through the Moat Garden on Castle Street.

Please assemble at the Gate closest to the Hertford Theatre redevelopment and the Six Templars public house, managed directly by Wetherspoons, 5 minutes before the tour start time. 

Parking

Unfortunately, there is no public parking at Hertford Castle (including disabled) but there are a number of public car parks close to the Castle. Please click here for more information and map. 

Amenities 

The Castle will be closed for this event. 

The nearest public toilets are situated on The Wash by the Six Templars public house, managed directly by Wetherspoons.
