Hertford Town Council encourage local entrepreneurs to enter a new competition, which is set to find the Hertford Entrepreneur of the Year.
Entry to this competition is free of charge and the winner will be awarded a cash prize of £3000.
The £3000 prize has been funded by Cllr Andrew Stevenson’s County Council locality budget.
Cllr Andrew Stevenson said: “I support this award because it gives a much needed boost to small businesses in Hertford. Town centres need to find new ways of regenerating themselves and this encourages entrepreneurial businesses to develop innovative business plans and remain active in the town.
The type of business suited to a town centre location is one that offers an interesting destination, not the old fashioned type of retail business just offering a product that can be purchased online. This needs innovative entrepreneurial thinking, which I hope this award will encourage.“
In addition to the prize money, the Town Council have partnered with Axis Magazine and Hertfordshire Mercury who will both offer the winner an editorial write up.
This new award has been designed to highlight and recognise Hertford’s entrepreneurial talent. This competition is suited to small to medium sized businesses that are able to demonstrate the entrepreneurial aptitude, commercial acumen, vision, ambition and drive to build a successful business.
Entrepreneurs must either work or live in Hertford to apply and are able to download an application form online from www.hertford.gov.uk/hertford-entrepreneurs-network/
The closing date for entries is Friday 5th February 2016.
Following the closing date, applications will be shortlisted where those who are in with a chance of being crowned ‘Hertford Entrepreneur of the Year’ will present their answers to a panel of judges at Hertford Castle on Tuesday 23rd February 2016.
Three finalists will then be selected to present live at the Awards Ceremony at Hertford Castle in front of a live audience and judges on Wednesday 9th March 2016.
The winner will receive the £3000 cash prize, editorial support and become crowned Hertford Entrepreneur of the Year.
The two runners up will each receive the following:
A Website SEO Audit provided by Zoocha worth £1,500+VAT.
Zoocha will provide a comprehensive technical audit of your website to evaluate your level of search engine optimisation and identify opportunities to enhance your SEO performance.
Isabel Sigmac, the Chairman of Hertford Entrepreneurs said: “This award is the only one recognising entrepreneurs who are based in and around Hertford. Not only we will be celebrating those who are established but those silent ones who has the potential to make it big. I am really looking to discover what the applicants have to say about what makes them tick and how they achieve success. This is a great opportunity to win the Hertford Entrepreneur of the Year award and the winner will get a cash prize of £3,000.”
