Hertford Town Council will be hosting the next Hertford Entrepreneurs event on Thursday 12th July at Hertford Castle, from 18.30 until 20.00.
The event will start with wine, nibbles and networking from 18.30 – 19.00 followed by an hour talk on ‘Entrepreneurship in an Inter-generational Business’
Tom McMullen, the Joint Managing Director of McMullens will be the guest speaker at the event.
Entrepreneurship is closely associated with early stage business start-up but is also a culture that needs to be allowed to opportunistically arise at times when established companies need to adapt to changing market conditions and secure new business opportunities. The event will consider how entrepreneurship founded McMullens and has ensured its survival for nearly two centuries.
Background of McMullens
McMullen is a Hertford based integrated pub retailer and brewer principally trading in the Home Counties and London. Established in 1827 the Company finished the 19th Century together with 1,200+ peer brewing companies across Great Britain. It is now one of only 37 to have remained trading and it ability to quickly adjust and adapt to every changing market conditions has enabled it to survive and thrive over eight recession and three depressions. Traditional family values and behaviour complement a drive for progressive competence and a desire to be flexible, continually adapt, and improve.
Tom joined McMullens in 2010 having spent several years abroad clearing landmines and eight years as a corporate tax solicitor in the City. He has an MBA at Imperial - one of the top rated schools for entrepreneurship. He is currently one of two Managing Directors – a tradition that balances family and non-family management in the business.
The price to attend the event is £10 which includes a glass of wine and nibbles.
